<pp:caseid>785630</pp:caseid>

Goggins Transport, the UK and Ireland-based general haulage business, has enhanced its fleet with the addition of 11 new, high-specification Mercedes-Benz Actros ProCabin Big 510hp tractor units, with a further five Actros ProCabin Giga units on order for delivery this year. Supplied by dealership group eStar Truck and Van, the investment is a clear signal of confidence from the Goggins family, underscoring a commitment to the business's long-term future and forming a key part of Goggins’ strategy focused on driver retention.

Founded by Martin Goggins in 1979, Goggins Transport has grown from a one-person operation into one of the UK and Ireland’s leading haulage providers, with operational bases in Liverpool, Dublin and Wexford. Today, Martin’s son, Tony, leads the company and oversees UK operations.

“Our father started this business by purchasing his first Mercedes-Benz truck as a driver-owner in Galway,” said Tony Goggins, Managing Director. “Since his passing, our commitment to Goggins’ future is absolute, and this investment is proof of our dedication to serving our customers for years to come. Central to delivering a quality service is driver retention, and our drivers deserve the very best equipment. With these high-spec Actros ProCabins, we are investing heavily in our future while also rewarding our team with a superior working environment that prioritises driver comfort, safety and wellbeing.”

This latest fleet enhancement, which continues Goggins' generational history with Mercedes-Benz Trucks, builds on the strong partnership between Goggins Transport and eStar Truck and Van.

Tony Goggins continued, “We are delighted to continue our history with Mercedes-Benz Trucks with the support of the team at eStar. It’s a long-standing relationship we value and Henry, on their aftersales team, does a great job managing the vehicles once in fleet, ensuring we can maximise their uptime.”

Joe Thompson, Sales Executive at eStar, commented, “We are incredibly proud to continue our relationship with Goggins. This investment demonstrates their confidence in us, the Mercedes-Benz product, and the tailored support we provide. The Actros ProCabin is an exceptional choice for the business and its drivers, offering high performance and unparalleled comfort.”

Richard Waterworth, Head of Truck Sales at eStar, added, “The key to this long-standing partnership is the mutual trust we’ve built with Tony over the years. Goggins' investment in 16 new Actros units underscores this trust and the value they place on our customer support and service. We look forward to supporting their new fleet and continuing to grow this valued partnership well into the future.”

The Actros ProCabin Big cab variant stands out for its exceptionally spacious and driver-focused cab interior, designed with ergonomics that make long-haul journeys safer and more comfortable. Thanks to its flat floor, the Big offers generous standing height too, combined with ample storage compartments, a wide sleeping bunk, and well-appointed controls.

Like the rest of the Actros ProCabin range, the Big cab is blessed with high-quality tactile materials throughout, offering a more relaxed driver and living environment with lower in-cab noise, while boasting modern digital displays, connectivity and safety features that only Mercedes-Benz trucks are renowned for.

Thanks to the ProCabin’s class-leading exterior design and exceptional ergonomics, overall efficiency is improved too, with lower drag and better fuel consumption as standard; all major factors in Goggins Transport’s decision to continue their long-standing relationship with Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

For more information about Goggins Transport, please visit www.gogginstransport.com

ABOUT MERCEDES-BENZ TRUCKS

Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK offers a comprehensive range of vehicles from 7.5 to 250 tonnes, providing tailor-made, end-to-end solutions designed around every transport requirement. The immersive workshops combined in-depth classroom training with hands-on driving experiences to provide Dealers with the opportunity to explore the versatility and capabilities of the brand’s construction-focused Arocs, Actros and Atego models.

With Dealer partners from the entire UK network joining the event, guests flew into Frankfurt with representatives from the Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK team, before heading to the renowned Coreum construction facility to learn more about the technicalities and innovations behind the Mercedes-Benz Trucks construction range.

With products ranging from the Actros L, designed to haul heavy loads of up to 500 tonnes, right through to the Atego range of flat beds and tippers for smaller everyday use, UK Dealers were fully immersed in real-world performance in an off-road construction-based environment. In addition to this, Dealers learned more about CTT, the Mercedes Custom Tailored Truck program, available for any customer looking for specific build requirements.

Stuart Jeggo, Sales and Marketing Director, Daimler Truck UK, commented, “It’s hugely important to make sure we give our Dealers the tools they need in every segment that we operate in. Construction is an area where we have fantastic products and often market-leading technology that can genuinely make a job much easier for our customers. But if they don’t truly understand it or experience it for themselves, then the work our engineers put into the development of our products goes to waste. This training initiative is a significant step towards our network strengthening its commitment to the construction industry.”

Talking about his experience at the unique Coreum facility, which even boasts its own dedicated hotel, Michael Carolan, Managing Director of Midland Truck and Van, added, "The facility was superb and provided a fantastic overall experience. The construction training was incredibly valuable for everyone from our team who attended. Crucially, this wasn’t just about training the sales team, it extended to our Marketing, Network Sales and Aftersales teams too, which is important to ensure full understanding of both the industry and products we offer across the business."

Martin Kemsley, Sales Director at SAGA Truck & Van added, “The technical elements were a real eye-opener; learning about features like the Turbo Retarder Clutch, for example, will be a real game-changer when talking to customers, and then getting to experience it on a large ascent puts everything into context. We all left feeling we have a huge opportunity in construction now.”

Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK concluded, “The construction industry is a significant part of the overall truck market in the UK, and an opportunity for our Dealers that is relatively untapped. With greater emphasis and understanding across our network for what the industry needs and the depth of what we can offer, we look forward to building and strengthening our position in the market over the coming years.”

The Mercedes-Benz Trucks range of construction products includes the Arocs, Atego, and Arocs up to 500 t.

Over the course of the show, Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK recorded exceptional levels of engagement with its bespoke Actros, with Exposure Analytics tracking technology revealing that nearly 7,000 attendees viewed the truck up close over the three days.

Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK, commented: “This truck showcases all the innovation Mercedes-Benz Trucks has become known for over the past 130 years, while celebrating the UK launch of air suspension and swivel seats, two additions that will enhance driver comfort and safety. We don’t just think the Actros ProCabin is the star of the show; this specially commissioned truck is a real highlight in Actros’s storied 30-year history.”

The custom design, developed by Daimler Truck UK Key Account Manager, David Simm, in coordination with CVC UK, Kuda Automotive and Kirk Coachworks, is a one-of-one tractor unit based on an Actros L Giga ProCabin in a 6x2 mid-lift configuration. It is powered by the third-generation, 12.8-litre OM 471 engine, a compact unit that balances power and fuel efficiency.

The front of the truck features a striking custom front bumper module with additional lighting and low-bar. This theme continues up top with a tubular lighting rig complete with spotlamps and a 30 Years of Actros motif. More custom bodywork features along the side and rear of the truck, and a special chequerplate catwalk is complemented by the unique 30 Years of Actros A-frame and fifth-wheel cover on the frame.

Inside the truck, there is a suite of new features aimed at enhancing driver comfort, safety and efficiency - including those inspired by driver feedback. These are headlined by the UK-first installation of swivel seat bases for the driver and passenger, which rotate around a fixed point on the floor, and are perfect for adapting the seating in the cabin to provide flexible space to relax after a long shift. Both seats feature heating and air-cooling functions as well as a massage programme to keep occupants feeling comfortable and relaxed on a long drive. They can be pointed towards the extra-large television, complete with smart streaming services, or while utilising the built-in microwave at meal times. There’s even an aluminium table that folds out of the dashboard on the passenger side.

Premium touches around the cabin include leather door handles and dashboard top, plus a 150cm deep comfort mattress with air pockets and memory foam, to ensure the ProCabin is a true home from home.

The appearance of the Actros ProCabin at RTX also formed part of Mercedes-Benz Trucks' celebration of 30 years of the Actros. Since its launch in 1996, the model has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of operators, with the latest ProCabin combining improved aerodynamics, greater efficiency and enhanced driver comfort to carry the iconic nameplate into its fourth decade.

The delivery marks a significant addition to the company’s all-Mercedes-Benz Trucks fleet, while also making it the first tipper variant of the limited-edition model to enter service in the UK.

The Arocs Extent combines distinctive design enhancements with the proven strength of the Arocs construction platform. The vehicle will now be entering service within MJ Freeth’s tipper operation, supporting quarrying and construction haulage work across aggregates, crushed materials and demolition recovery.

MJ Freeth, founded by owner and director Matt Freeth in 2009, operates a specialist fleet focused on subcontracted quarrying and construction logistics. Today, the company runs a tightly managed fleet of Mercedes-Benz tipper trucks, alongside its wider workshop operations servicing quarry and commercial equipment.

“The decision to continue investing in Mercedes-Benz Trucks reflects our focus on reliability and uptime,” said Matt Freeth, Owner and Director of MJ Freeth. “I started out with a second-hand Mercedes-Benz truck, then added another, and then started to buy new. My confidence in the vehicles just grew from there and I haven’t looked back since. They’re really well-made with a tough chassis that’s built for the construction industry, and the backup from Rygor has always been excellent too.”

Arocs Extent: A truck “built for the business”

MJ Freeth’s new Arocs Extent was specified in close collaboration with dealer Rygor Auto, and already incorporated a number of key enhancements aligned with their operational requirements, with a prioritisation for features that enhance driver comfort, usability and presentation, alongside durability.

“We always spec our trucks with the driver in mind,” continued Freeth. “And when the Extent became available, Marcus at Rygor sent me the specification and a lot of the extras we’d normally add were already on the truck, things like comfortable seating, intuitive sat nav, LED lights, and a proper leather steering wheel to hold - it all matters.

“Beyond that, it looks great. If you turn up in a well-presented truck, people trust you before you’ve even started the job, so that’s always been really important to us. When we looked at the Extent as a whole package, it was like they’d basically built a truck specifically for us.”

The Arocs Extent enhances the construction-focused Arocs range with bespoke exterior styling, including its matte Weather Grey front grille and LED headlights, additional LED headlights integrated into the sun visor, and custom decals on the sun visor and front-end flap.

Attention to detail continues through dark chrome Arocs lettering, carbon-look trim elements and premium stainless steel axle caps and wheel nut covers.

Inside the cab, the Arocs Extent benefits from luxury touches including a leather steering wheel and the latest Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 system, bringing enhanced connectivity, intuitive touchscreen controls and integrated navigation to demanding construction operations. Built specifically for heavy-duty applications, the Extent is powered by Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ latest-generation Euro VI diesel engines.

Marcus Cahalin, Sales Executive at Rygor Auto, commented: “These vehicles are like laptops on wheels now - highly advanced, fully electrical, but mechanically bulletproof. The Arocs is built for construction work. It’s not a haulage chassis trying to act in the construction game. It is fully built for it.”

A UK first for Rygor Auto

For Rygor Auto, the delivery represents a milestone moment for both customer and dealer, and is a direct representation of the strength of their long-term partnership, particularly in supporting operational uptime.

“The Arocs Extent is a special truck. Only 100 are being built across Europe, and this is the first one ordered in the UK - and the only tipper Arocs Extent in the country,” commented Cahalin. “But what matters most for us as a dealer is how we back Matt and his fleet for round-the-clock support when it’s needed. That backup is essential, and we also offer an Extent Plus warranty, a Mercedes-Benz-backed five-year bumper-to-bumper package to give customers - especially those in demanding sectors like MJ Freeth - real peace of mind.”

Purpose-built for construction work

The Arocs Extent builds upon the established strength of the Mercedes-Benz Arocs platform, designed specifically for demanding off-road and site-based applications. Built with highly customisable body configurations, powertrain options and all-wheel drive capability, the Arocs is engineered to master the demands of the construction industry.

For further information about Rygor Auto, please contact:

Caron Turtle, Head of Marketing, Rygor Auto.

Email: caronturtle@rygor.co.uk

www.rygor.co.uk

This saved around 844kg of CO2 emissions - as much as 37 mature trees absorb in one year - compared to a diesel truck doing the same trip. The consumption data for the electric eActros 600 showed it was achieving nearly 600km from a single charge.

The KB Event team seamlessly integrated any charging stops into its logistics, ensuring timely delivery without compromise. One of the drivers described the eActros 600 as: "An amazing bit of kit and the power behind the vehicle was especially impressive."

Leanne Clark, eConsultancy Manager at Daimler Truck UK, commented: "With zero tailpipe emissions, and a proven range of nearly 600km on the trip to Paris, the eActros 600 shows that electric freight can match the demands of high-profile, high-tempo events, while helping fashion move in a greener direction. Using the eActros 600 to serve Paris Fashion Week underscores our belief that sustainable logistics shouldn't be optional and have to deliver both performance and impact."

The British fashion house that used KB Event for its Paris Fashion Week logistics commented: "We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our shows. Marking the 10-year anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement, the house has collaborated with NGO ACT1.5 to adopt a 360º approach, from using low-impact set materials and electric transport to powering the show with renewable HVO energy."

The eActros 600, the International Truck of the Year 2025, is designed for long-distance haulage with a gross combination weight of up to 44 tonnes and is optimised for efficiency and range by the truck’s particularly efficient aerodynamics combined with a high battery capacity of more than 600 kilowatt hours. Megawatt Charging System capability means the eActros 600 can recharge from 20% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

Ends

For more information, please contact:
Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK
Email: nick.ford@daimlertruck.com
Mobile: 07712 235962

John Rawlings, Account Director, Loop
Email: john.rawlings@loopagency.co.uk
Mobile: 07847 371436

These features won Mercedes- Benz Trucks UK the title of Innovator of the Year by the expert judges of the Fleet Vision International Awards 2025.

The eEconic was selected after an extensive evaluation programme when it completed daily rounds on a single charge and returned to the depot with 40–60% spare battery capacity, outperforming all other models tested by Salford City Council.

At 27 tonnes when fully loaded – only one tonne more than the typical 26-tonne diesel equivalent – the eEconic handles the intensive demands of refuse collection with ease, collecting over 1,200 bins per day as part of the council’s 36-truck fleet.

Alan Fitzsimons, Transport Manager at Salford City Council, said: “The Mercedes-Benz eEconic is leaps and bounds above the rest. During our demonstration period, it completed every route with battery range to spare, while competitors struggled to finish on a single charge. It is 100% electric, and the range and regenerative braking are excellent. It has surpassed all our expectations and we’re proud to lead the way in sustainable waste collection for Salford residents.”

“For cost reasons, we previously bought cheaper trucks, but experience has shown that quality and reliability matter. We have been gradually returning our fleet to Mercedes-Benz, adding around one new vehicle per year to serve Salford’s growing population,” he added.

Drivers have responded positively to the eEconic’s performance and comfort. Anthony Kearns, HGV driver and trainer at Salford City Council, said: “My biggest worry was whether it would complete the route, but on my longest day, when I travel 60 miles and take three loads totalling 30 tonnes, it still has 36% battery left after seven hours. It’s second to none compared to other vehicles we’ve tried, plus other drivers keep telling me, ‘no wonder you like driving this – it’s like a Rolls Royce of bin trucks.’”

Anthony also praised the cab’s comfort: “It’s much quieter than a diesel, cooler in summer, smoother to drive, and a real pleasure for city streets. The pre-heat function and regenerative braking make a real difference, ensuring the battery lasts while keeping the cab comfortable.”

The eEconic features a special ‘Lest We Forget’ livery for Armed Forces week, demonstrating Salford City Council’s commitment to honouring military service while embracing sustainable technology.

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, said: “The positive feedback from Salford City Council shows that all-electric trucks can deliver more than sustainability benefits. The eEconic provides excellent range, quieter operation, and better working conditions for drivers, proving electric refuse trucks are ready for real-world urban use.”

Salford City Council is targeting net-zero by 2038 through natural fleet replacement where possible. Refuse trucks typically have a ten-year operational life, improved from the previous seven-year cycle, reducing maintenance and downtime while supporting the council’s sustainability goals.

Ends

About Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK
Mercedes-Benz Trucks offers a comprehensive range of trucks from 7.5 to 250 tonnes. With its class-leading 500 km+ range, the eActros 600 was the only electric HGV capable of completing Agrii’s demanding 460 km nightly round trip between its central distribution centre and network of depots on a single charge, with energy to spare.

Based on a typical annual mileage of 60,000 km, the eActros 600 is expected to reduce Agrii’s carbon emissions by around 59 tonnes each year.

Richard Pinnock, Agrii’s National Distribution Manager, said: “It’s almost unnatural to think a truck that size can be electric and achieve such a distance on one charge. Sustainability is an important issue for the agricultural sector, and adopting our first electric HGV is a crucial step in reducing our environmental impact.”

The eActros 600’s quiet, all-electric powertrain also brings operational advantages, particularly during night-time deliveries to rural areas where reduced noise helps minimise disturbance to local communities.

The vibrant and distinctive branding on the eActros 600 was professionally wrapped by Finch signs using Metamark Metaglide vinyl for a premium, durable finish. Printed on a new Roland VG3-540 printer to ensure exceptional colour accuracy and detail, Metaglide’s advanced adhesive technology allows for precise application of the wrap, with excellent repositionability, making it ideal for the complex contours of vehicle cabs.

This delivery marks another milestone in Agrii’s long-standing relationship with Midlands Truck & Van and Truck Sales Executive, Amit Verma, who have supported the company’s Mercedes-Benz fleet development for more than a decade.

Amit Verma, Truck Sales Executive at Midlands Truck & Van, commented: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Agrii on this transition. From early prototype testing to detailed route analysis, this project has been a real partnership. Delivering the first eActros 600 to Agrii is a proud moment for everyone involved.”

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, added: “Agrii’s adoption of the eActros 600 shows that electric long-haul transport is ready for real-world operations. It is expected to cover 80,000 miles a year in total.

Pulling a state-of-the-art double-decker trailer, the new truck will collect used technology from across Europe before distributing it to recycling centres in the UK.

For a business built around recycling, adopting zero-emission vehicles was a natural next step. “We’ve already had great experiences with our Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, so the move to an electric HGV was the logical progression,” said Lee Spendlove, Managing Director of SAS Tech Services.

The decision was sealed when one of SAS’s drivers trialled a demonstrator vehicle. “It is amazing! I’m a convert to electric,” he said - underlining just how quickly drivers are warming to the smooth, quiet performance of the eActros 600.

With a real-world range of over 500 km, the truck will typically only need one charge on its journeys to Holland. Convenient access to charging infrastructure en route makes electric long-haul a practical solution for SAS Tech Services and its customers.

Alongside the eActros 600, SAS Tech Services has also added a new Actros L ProCabin 1853LS Gigaspace 4x2. Covering more than 100,000 miles annually, it will serve recycling centres across England, Wales, and Scotland.

Both new trucks have been ordered with high specifications to prioritise driver comfort and pride of ownership. Features include a full leather interior, microwave oven, chrome alloy wheels and LED lighting. The striking vehicles will also serve as show trucks at events like TruckFest, further boosting the SAS brand.

“Our new Actros trucks will be quite special and our drivers can’t wait to get behind the wheel,” added Spendlove. “We have stuck with Mercedes-Benz for 25 years because nothing else matches their reliability. Daimler Truck UK and Midlands Truck & Van provide excellent service and support, so there has never been a reason to look elsewhere.”

At the handover of the new truck to SAS Tech Services, Amit Verma, Truck Sales Executive at Midlands Truck and Van commented: “It is a pleasure to deliver the first eActros 600 to SAS Tech Services today and see another customer switching to electric power. With its class-leading range, advanced battery technology and premium quality interior our customers expect from a Mercedes-Benz truck, the eActros 600 is going to be a popular addition to the fleet at SAS Tech Services.”

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, praised SAS Tech Services’ commitment: “We are incredibly grateful for their loyalty to Mercedes-Benz Trucks over the past 25 years. The eActros 600 is ideally suited to their long-distance recycling logistics, proving how electric heavy goods vehicles can meet real-world demands today.”

Crowned International Truck of the Year 2025, the eActros 600 impressed judges with its long range, advanced safety systems, and driver-friendly design. Its introduction to fleets like SAS Tech Services demonstrates Mercedes-Benz Truck’s ongoing leadership in helping UK logistics meet ambitious climate goals.

For SAS Tech Services, the arrival of the eActros 600 represents more than a fleet upgrade - it is a powerful statement about aligning business values with sustainability. By combining brand loyalty with forward-thinking investment, SAS is proving that the future of heavy logistics is both green and practical.

Ends

For more information, please contact:

Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK
Email: nick.ford@daimlertruck.com
Mobile: 07712 235962

John Rawlings, Account Director, loop
Email: john.rawlings@loopagency.co.uk
Mobile: 07847 371436

Based on its consumption during the journey, the truck could have done the 673km journey on a single charge.

This landmark journey highlights both the capability of the eActros 600 and the team’s determination to push the boundaries of sustainability in motorsport logistics. The journey was completed using 100% renewable energy thanks to charging at a dedicated Milence truck charging hub.

The electric truck stood out at the Dutch Grand Prix from all the diesel-powered transportation used by other competitors.

The continental journey to Holland followed a pilot trip to the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone earlier this summer using three Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks to take all the cars and supporting equipment.

With its ambition to become one of the most sustainable global professional sports teams, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is constantly exploring new ways to use green technologies to reduce its emissions. The team has already taken the initiative of using HVO100, a second-generation biofuel, to power its trucks and generators since 2022, which saved more than 500 tonnes of emissions during last year’s race season.

Alice Ashpitel, Head of Sustainability, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, said: “Our work is powered by a team of people who are passionate about shaping a better future – one where performance and purpose go hand in hand on our journey to become one of the most sustainable global professional sports teams.

“As a team, our commitment to sustainability means that we rethink how we move, not just how we race. While we are driven by performance on track, we are incredibly proud that our innovations travel beyond the grid. The use of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks, initially piloted at our home race in July, and then used to transport our race cars to Zandvoort, is another important step in our decarbonisation journey.”

Ash Armstrong, eConsultancy Manager, Daimler Truck UK, commented: “We are continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible with battery electric trucks. Our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is key in demonstrating that sustainable, long-haul distribution has arrived with our eActros 600.

“We could not be more thrilled that one of our eActros 600 trucks has been used to transport the team’s W16 cars from Brackley to Zandvoort. We are extremely proud to showcase the impressive range and capability of this truck. It just goes to show that the era of electrification is upon us and range anxiety is no longer an issue.”

The Mercedes-Benz eActros is the International Truck of the Year 2025 with a class-leading minimum range of 500km per full charge. Rapid charging using the megawatt charging system (MCS) allows the truck’s 600kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery to go from 20% to 80% charge in just 25 minutes.

Equipped with a 600kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery, the eActros 600 redefines what is possible in the world of heavy-duty transport. No one else can do this like Mercedes-Benz Trucks.”

Sam Fender himself was equally excited: “We’ve just finished our summer tour where we used Mercedes-Benz electric trucks operated by KB Event. Hopefully, this will help show what can be achieved on future tours and other artists will jump onboard too. Big thanks to everyone involved and to Massive Attack for pioneering the way with more sustainable touring.”

The feedback wasn’t just from the stage. Drivers of the eActros 600 were quick to praise the truck’s refinement and overall usability.

Despite tight deadlines, charging posed no issues during the tour. “We only needed a maximum 90-minute stop to recharge, which slotted neatly into the schedule,” added Burnett. “It will be even easier when venues start adding their own charging hubs.”

For Daimler Truck UK, the tour represents a landmark moment for both logistics and live entertainment.

Stuart Jeggo, Sales and Marketing Director of Daimler Truck UK, said: “Concerts bring joy to millions, and now they can also help drive a more sustainable future. The eActros 600 shows that electrification works, even in one of the most demanding industries - live touring. A big thank you to our dealers for their support - especially Metrux Truck and Van, and also Ciceley Commercials - without whom this would not have been possible.”

From packed arenas to the highways linking them, Sam Fender’s latest tour didn’t just entertain - it proved that the future of sustainable live music is already here, and it runs on Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Ends

For more information, please contact:

Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK
Email: nick.ford@daimlertruck.com
Mobile: 07712 235962

John Rawlings, Account Director, Loop
Email: john.rawlings@loopagency.co.uk
Mobile: 07847 371436

It features the latest Spargo gritter body, developed by Econ Engineering, and joins the company’s hire fleet of more than 1,000 winter maintenance vehicles.

Econ Engineering, the UK’s largest manufacturer of gritters and specialist winter maintenance equipment, has been working with Mercedes-Benz Trucks for more than 22 years.

Together, they’ve built the country’s largest own-brand hire fleet – a fleet that covered more than 247,800 miles of gritter routes last year alone, ensuring communities could keep moving safely when conditions were at their toughest.

Jonathan Lupton, Managing Director at Econ Engineering, said: “Reaching our 1,000th Mercedes-Benz hire gritter is a proud moment for everyone at Econ. It’s a testament to the strength of our partnership with Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Northside Truck & Van. Mercedes-Benz trucks deliver the reliability, flexibility and aftersales support that our customers demand from vehicles that have to perform in the toughest of conditions.

“Our hire customers rely on the quality and condition of our fleet, and this latest milestone underlines our continued investment in innovation and performance. We’re proud to keep pushing boundaries to help keep Britain’s roads safe every winter.”

At the heart of Econ’s success is the Mercedes-Benz Arocs, a truck engineered to take on the harshest environments. With high ground clearance, all-wheel drive chassis from 4x4 to 8x8, and the latest OM 471 engine paired with PowerShift Advanced transmission control, the Arocs delivers unrivalled traction, precision and dependability.

Drivers also benefit from the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 that features a 12-inch instrument display, touchscreen controls, voice activation and advanced safety systems – combining comfort with capability.

“Econ are a company that exemplifies excellence in engineering and innovation. These vehicles are built to perform in the harshest conditions and play a vital role in keeping Britain’s roads open, safe, and connected.”

Martin Tordoff, Truck Sales Executive, Northside Truck & Van commented: “At Northside, we are extremely proud to be one of Econ’s suppliers. Our long-standing relationship has been built on excellent aftersales support – not only from us but also through the wider Daimler Truck network. It has been a real pleasure working with Jonathan and his colleagues, and reaching the historic milestone of 1,000 chassis supplied is a testament to the strength of our partnership. We look forward to supplying more chassis in the future, and to continuing this great relationship for many years to come.”

Econ Engineering’s fleet, supported by Mercedes-Benz Trucks – spearheaded by Municipal and Special Applications Key Account Manager Bob Holt – and its dealer partners like Northside Truck & Van, stands ready to respond whenever the weather takes a turn. Whether tackling snow, ice or treacherous winter storms, these Arocs gritters ensure that businesses, emergency services, and communities can keep moving.

As the 1,000th Arocs joins the fleet, it’s more than just a number: it represents a proven partnership, a shared commitment to innovation, and a dedication to keeping Britain safe on the roads, no matter what the winter brings. The truck will be on show during the RWM Resources and Waste Management Expo at the Birmingham NEC on September 17-18th.

Ends

For more information, please contact:

Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK
Email: nick.ford@daimlertruck.com
Mobile: 07712 235962

John Rawlings, Account Director, Loop
Email: john.rawlings@loopagency.co.uk
Mobile: 07847 371436
