Mercedes-Benz Trucks spotlights construction industry in latest Dealer training
As part of Mercedes-Benz Trucks' continued focus on the construction sector, Dealers recently took part in a European-wide construction training event at the Coreum construction facility near Frankfurt, Germany. The immersive workshops combined in-depth classroom training with hands-on driving experiences to provide Dealers with the opportunity to explore the versatility and capabilities of the brand’s construction-focused Arocs, Actros and Atego models.
With Dealer partners from the entire UK network joining the event, guests flew into Frankfurt with representatives from the Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK team, before heading to the renowned Coreum construction facility to learn more about the technicalities and innovations behind the Mercedes-Benz Trucks construction range.
With products ranging from the Actros L, designed to haul heavy loads of up to 500 tonnes, right through to the Atego range of flat beds and tippers for smaller everyday use, UK Dealers were fully immersed in real-world performance in an off-road construction-based environment. In addition to this, Dealers learned more about CTT, the Mercedes Custom Tailored Truck program, available for any customer looking for specific build requirements.
Stuart Jeggo, Sales and Marketing Director, Daimler Truck UK, commented, “It’s hugely important to make sure we give our Dealers the tools they need in every segment that we operate in. Construction is an area where we have fantastic products and often market-leading technology that can genuinely make a job much easier for our customers. But if they don’t truly understand it or experience it for themselves, then the work our engineers put into the development of our products goes to waste. This training initiative is a significant step towards our network strengthening its commitment to the construction industry.”
Talking about his experience at the unique Coreum facility, which even boasts its own dedicated hotel, Michael Carolan, Managing Director of Midland Truck and Van, added, "The facility was superb and provided a fantastic overall experience. The construction training was incredibly valuable for everyone from our team who attended. Crucially, this wasn’t just about training the sales team, it extended to our Marketing, Network Sales and Aftersales teams too, which is important to ensure full understanding of both the industry and products we offer across the business."
Martin Kemsley, Sales Director at SAGA Truck & Van added, “The technical elements were a real eye-opener; learning about features like the Turbo Retarder Clutch, for example, will be a real game-changer when talking to customers, and then getting to experience it on a large ascent puts everything into context. We all left feeling we have a huge opportunity in construction now.”
Nick Ford, PR & Communications Manager, Daimler Truck UK concluded, “The construction industry is a significant part of the overall truck market in the UK, and an opportunity for our Dealers that is relatively untapped. With greater emphasis and understanding across our network for what the industry needs and the depth of what we can offer, we look forward to building and strengthening our position in the market over the coming years.”
The Mercedes-Benz Trucks range of construction products includes the Arocs, Atego, and Arocs up to 500 t.
