Ross Paterson appointed Customer Service & Parts Director at Daimler Truck UK
Long-serving Daimler Truck executive brings almost four decades of commercial vehicle experience to new role
Daimler Truck UK has appointed Ross Paterson as its new Customer Service & Parts Director, effective 1 November 2026, bringing almost four decades of commercial vehicle experience to the role.
Paterson joined the company in September 1997 and has since built extensive experience across the UK commercial vehicle operation, including senior roles in Product and Marketing and, most recently, as Head of Special Trucks.
He became Head of Product and Marketing for Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK in March 2016, a position he held until January 2021, when he moved into his current position as Head of Special Trucks.
In his most recent role, Paterson has led the development and sales of specialised vehicle solutions at Daimler Truck UK, working particularly closely with customers operating in demanding municipal environments and addressing requirements around sustainability, efficiency and operational performance.
His responsibilities have included Mercedes-Benz Econic and eEconic activities in the municipal sector, alongside the company's specialist Unimog business. Earlier this year, he represented Daimler Truck UK at Fleet Vision International, speaking about the changing requirements facing municipal fleets and their transition towards more sustainable operations.
He has also overseen the award-winning success of the Mercedes-Benz eEconic, which secured the Innovator of the Year title at the Fleet Vision International Awards in 2025 and Vehicle of the Year in 2026.
Paterson has played an active role in the continued development of the UK's specialist Unimog sales and support network. In March, he welcomed Multevo into the Unimog sales network following its previous involvement as an Authorised Repairer, highlighting the company's customer service and aftersales capabilities.
His appointment as Customer Service & Parts Director brings together extensive experience of both the Daimler Truck organisation and the needs of commercial vehicle operators, at a time when customer support, vehicle uptime and the transition to new technologies are becoming increasingly important across the industry.
Ross Paterson, Customer Service & Parts Director, Daimler Truck UK, said:
"Having spent almost three decades with the business and nearly four decades within this industry, I'm incredibly proud to be taking on this role. Aftersales is fundamental to the relationship we have with our customers. Our job doesn't finish when a truck is handed over. It is about keeping that vehicle working, supporting our customers throughout its life and ensuring they get the best possible service from Daimler Truck and our Dealer Network.
"I've been fortunate to work across many different parts of the business during my career, and that experience has given me a real appreciation of what our customers and Dealers need from us. I'm looking forward to working with the team and our network to build on the strong foundations already in place and make our aftersales offering even stronger."
Richard Skidmore, Managing Director, Daimler Truck UK, said:
"Ross brings an exceptional depth of experience to this position. He knows our business, our Dealer Network, our products and, crucially, our customers extremely well.
"During his career with Daimler Truck UK he has demonstrated a strong understanding of what operators need from us beyond the vehicle itself. I'm delighted that he is taking on this important position and I know he will bring the same energy, experience and customer focus to our aftersales operation."
A career spanning almost four decades
Prior to joining the Mercedes-Benz Trucks brand, Paterson completed a four-year truck technician apprenticeship with Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles in 1988.
Following his apprenticeship, he joined Arlington Motors Ltd, a Mercedes-Benz franchised dealership, where he quickly progressed through the business to become Workshop Foreman.
Paterson's Daimler Truck career began in September 1997. Since then, his roles have given him experience across product, marketing and specialist vehicle operations, progressing to Head of Product and Marketing in 2016 and Head of Special Trucks in 2021.
As Head of Special Trucks, he has worked closely with customers, the Dealer Network and industry partners across specialist applications, including municipal operations, Econic and eEconic, and Unimog.
He now brings that combination of technical, product, commercial and customer experience to Daimler Truck UK's aftersales operation.
